Alll members and supporters are welcome to join us at the general meeting on Saturday 18th of November, at 4pm.
1) First we will have an interactive 1 hour workshop about renters basic rights facilitated by our guest group HASL (Housing Action Southwark and Lambeth), a local housing action group and part of the Coalition against Poverty of London.
We will also look at how UVW and HASL can work together to overcome the housing problems which affect us all such as high rents, overcrowded housing, poor conditions, and problems with benefits etc.
2) Then we will talk about our upcoming general annual general meeting (AGM) planned for the first Saturday of February 2018. This Saturday we will discuss the posts that are open for election, understand what they entail, and see if you would like to stand for one of them (you can also stand for election even if you don’t attend this meeting).
3) Third, we will plan our Christmas party, and make important decisions about the union. Make sure your vote counts.
4) Also, if you are not earning the London Living Wage of 10.20 per hour then be sure to come on Saturday to find out how we can help you fight for it and win it. You will be able to meet our organisers and other members too who are or have been in your same situation.
Additionally, these meetings are good places to meet and share experiences with other members, to build and nurture the union’s community, collective spirit and sense of solidarity which makes UVW such a successful union.
See you there! Greetings and solidarity!
