St Georges hospital campaign

Following the campaign launch on 3rd October 2015 of the St Georges Campaign, we have met with and secured confirmation from St George’s University that by the first week of December 2015, after meeting with the finance committee, we will receive a response to our demands on whether the cleaners, who are currently outsourced to Ocean, will receive either complete parity of pay and terms and conditions of employment as in-house staff or, and what is our preferred option, be brought in-house themselves to become direct employees of St George’s. Thus far St George’s have shown a strong desire to work with, not against UVW and have even agreed to allow us to revise and amend the final submissions to the finance committee on both the complete parity and in-house options for the cleaners. As a measure of good will we have agreed to hold off any planned direct and industrial action at St George’s until the finance committee has made its ruling. Stay tuned.
