VICTORY! ALBA IS REINSTATED

UVW wins the final part of its 10 month dispute against Noonan and the LSE by winning a groundbreaking, precedent setting tribunal hearing today which declared Alba’s dismissal not only unlawful but profoundly and manifestly unfair.

This is the 5th sacked cleaner we have got reinstated at the LSE in the last year. With Alba’s reinstatement, and the cleaners being brought in-house this concludes, for now, UVW’s official dispute at the LSE.

The judge made many damning remarks about Noonan yesterday, but the following stood out:

1) Noonan’s treatment of Alba, who was at risk of redundancy, was discourteous and inadequate and Noonan’s lawyers and accountants would not have been treated in the same way.

3) Noonan fell well short of their obligations to a “vulnerable and disadvantaged” section of their workforce.

2) the defects in the process were profoundly and manifestly unfair and her dismissal was well outside of the range (which is a really wide range!) of reasonable responses and permissible conduct available to employers.
