Migrant workers at Orion recycling plant striking for dignity, safety and living wage

A team of 15 Peruvians at Orion's recycling plant in East London are on wildcat strike due to atrociously dangerous working conditions!

They are paid a poverty wage of just £7.50 per hour.  They are demanding £10.20 p/h, which is the current London Living Wage.

They are entitled only to statutory sick pay, which compels workers to decide between their health and paying rent.  Orion can do much, much better.

They are waiting for delivery of proper face masks and air filters, protective overalls, gloves, and the construction of a shower room.

Negotiations with Orion management are pending.  Nothing less than justice for the workers, agreed by the workers, will be accepted by UVW.

Anything you can contribute to this campaign will be democratically used to boost its chances of success in the proven members-led UVW style, which has overcome Harrods, Sotheby's and the London School of Economics.
