Dear Victoria and Zacharia, We are extremely concerned to learn that UVW members at St James Tavern have been invited to a series of disciplinary hearings tomorrow. We understand that you have accused the workers of having defamed and brought the business into disrepute in the media and social media. We believe it is no coincidence that you have summoned UVW members to a disciplinary hearing days after receiving notification of official strike dates, which followed a lawful industrial ballot. We understand no evidence whatsoever has been provided to corroborate these allegations and can only therefore assume they are unfounded and are instead a reaction to your employees’ trade union activities. As you will be aware, freedom of association and the right to collectively bargain are fundamental rights enshrined in UK, European and international law. We therefore call on you to drop these disciplinary meetings and enter into good faith negotiations with the workers and their union. Yours sincerely,
