About this course
The next 6-week EGOS course (March–April 2026) will have a special focus on the hotel industry, drawing on our recent historic Radisson Blu victories as inspiration.
The hotel sector is plagued by exploitative conditions, high turnover, and precarious work, and remains severely under-unionised, but it’s not unorganisable!
In 2025, UVW organised and led a historic win at the Radisson Blu Canary Wharf, where housekeepers, mostly migrant women from Nepal, took successful strike action and called and cancelled a planned six-week strike after securing every demand: pay rises, back pay, reduced workloads, and guaranteed minimum hours. This was the first major hotel strike victory in England since 1979, led by UVW.
Building on this win, UVW members won a major victory at Radisson Blu Euston Square, securing higher pay, reduced workloads, and full-time guaranteed hours for housekeepers. These wins highlight the power of grassroots organising, and in this course, you’ll learn how to take those lessons and apply them in hotels, care homes, hospitals, universities, and other sectors.
Expect interactive workshops, campaign planning, and practical exercises, plus the chance to work on real UVW campaigns.
