Spanish and Portuguese-speaking workers united to defend our rights, support one another, and build power together. Join UVW today.

You Deserve Dignity, Respect and Equality

Are you overworked, underpaid, and undervalued? Do you experience bullying, racism, or intimidation at work? Are you tired of feeling powerless and unheard?

You’re not alone. Many migrant workers are silenced for the essential work they do. Immigration status and job insecurity also leave us struggling in isolation – but it doesn’t have to be this way.

Collective action gives us the power to demand better.

No Longer Invisible

Voces Hispanas Unidas (VHU) brings together Spanish and Portuguese-speaking workers across many different industries and workplaces. What unites us is our shared languages, cultures and experiences of work, and our commitment to standing together against exploitation and discrimination.

UVW was built from the struggles of migrant workers doing low-paid and precarious work. Our founding goal – turning righteous anger into collective action – drives our organising today. VHU exists so workers can organise collectively, support one another, and fight back together.

Together, we can win!

Through legal and industrial action, UVW members have won:

  • Major pay rises
  • Better sick and benefits
  • Protections against discrimination and harassment
  • Victories against outsourcing
  • Backpay for stolen and unpaid wages

Ending Institutional Racism

UVW is at the forefront of challenging institutional racism in any outsourced sector, which relies heavily on Black, brown, and migrant labour. Outsourced workers are often denied the dignity, rights, and conditions afforded to their in-house colleagues.

UVW continues to fight back with strikes, legal action, and organising power. We demand full equality, insourcing, and an end to the structural racism baked into the outsourcing model in the public and private sectors.

More than a union

VHU is more than a sector of UVW fighting for workers’ rights. It’s a community where workers come together to learn, organise and support one another.

Members take part in workshops, meetings and social events focused on building community, learning about workers’ rights, organising, and practising solidarity.

Many workers join UVW looking for support at work and stay because they find community.

As a member you will:

  • Be part of a growing community demanding dignity, respect and fair pay
  • Get advice and workplace representation
  • Be able to take legal action against unfair treatment and unpaid wages
  • Access meetings, training, and skill-building
  • Enjoy social events, workshops, and parties with fellow workers

Join UVW today and organise with workers who understand your experiences and will fight alongside you.
