You Deserve Dignity, Respect and Equality

Are you overworked, underpaid, and undervalued? Are you struggling to make ends meet with low pay and no sick pay. Are you tired of feeling powerless and invisible?

Many NHS workers face impossible workloads, low pay, unsafe conditions and unequal treatment despite doing essential work that hospitals cannot function without.

When NHS workers organise together, we can win better pay, safer conditions, sick pay, equality and respect at work. Join UVW and organise with other NHS workers fighting for change.

Together, we can win!

Through strikes, workplace organising and legal action, UVW members have won major victories across NHS hospitals: raising wages, winning full sick pay, recovering stolen wages, winning compensation for workplace injuries, and much more. This is where UVW has won major campaigns winning dignity, equality and respect in the NHS:

  • Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust
  • Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH)
  • Epsom and St. Helier Hospitals

Ending Institutional Racism

UVW is at the forefront of challenging outsourcing—a racist, two-tiered system which relies heavily on low-paid Black, brown, and migrant labour. Outsourced workers are often denied the dignity, rights, and conditions afforded to their in-house counterparts.

We were the first union in the UK to end outsourcing for cleaners in the NHS, bringing over 1,200 facilities workers at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust in-house. Other NHS hospital victories ending outsourcing include, Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH). These wins ended decades of institutional racism and put millions back in the pockets of cleaners where it belongs.
