UVW IS HIRING: 2 x EMPLOYMENT LAW CASEWORKERS

We are pleased to announce two vacancies for between 3-4 days a week each.

We are seeking to recruit 1 x caseworker and 1 x employment tribunal caseworker.

The caseworker role will involve:

Taking down case details of workers and advising them on how to best resolve their grievances or resist disciplinary proceedings against them.
Representing them in grievance, disciplinary and appeal hearings
Starting the ACAS Early Conciliation process for employment tribunal claims and negotiating settlements where possible.
Calling employers to try and resolve issues over the phone or get additional information for a case.

The employment tribunal caseworker role will involve:

Advising members on the merits of their case.
Drafting Particulars of Claim and submitting ET1s.
Drafting witness statements.
Representing workers in the employment tribunal at preliminary and final hearings.
Negotiating settlements.

Essential:

Personal interest in workers’ rights, trade union and social justice
Strong computer and research skills.
Strong case management skills.
Strong knowledge of employment law and the employment tribunal system (for the employment tribunal caseworker role only)

Desirable:

Good level of Spanish and/or Portuguese.

You pay will be at the UVW flat rate of £11.85 per hour. Other terms and condition include full pay sick pay, full pay maternity and paternity pay, and 6 weeks annual leave.
