UVW IS HIRING: 2 x EMPLOYMENT LAW CASEWORKERS

We are pleased to announce two vacancies for between 3-4 days a week each.

We are seeking to recruit 1 x caseworker and 1 x employment tribunal caseworker.

The caseworker role will involve:

  • Taking down case details of workers and advising them on how to best resolve their grievances or resist disciplinary proceedings against them.
  • Representing them in grievance, disciplinary and appeal hearings
  • Starting the ACAS Early Conciliation process for employment tribunal claims and negotiating settlements where possible.
  • Calling employers to try and resolve issues over the phone or get additional information for a case.

The employment tribunal caseworker role will involve:

  • Advising members on the merits of their case.
  • Drafting Particulars of Claim and submitting ET1s.
  • Drafting witness statements.
  • Representing workers in the employment tribunal at preliminary and final hearings.
  • Negotiating settlements.

Essential:

  • Personal interest in workers’ rights, trade union and social justice
  • Strong computer and research skills.
  • Strong case management skills.
  • Strong knowledge of employment law and the employment tribunal system (for the employment tribunal caseworker role only)

Desirable:

  • Good level of Spanish and/or Portuguese.

Start date 15th January 2021.
You pay will be at the UVW flat rate of £11.85 per hour. Other terms and condition include full pay sick pay, full pay maternity and paternity pay, and 6 weeks annual leave.
