BUTLINS: Safe holidays need safe jobs

This year, Butlin’s is celebrating its 90th anniversary with the promise to “Discover great UK family breaks in Bognor Regis.” 
 
Every year, families work hard and save for a well-earned holiday filled with fairground rides, live shows, swimming pools and unforgettable memories. Behind every carefree break are the Resort Safety Officers who protect families, staff and every corner of the resort to make it all possible. 

But behind the scenes, the reality is very different. 

The safety officers responsible for keeping families safe say they’re working with chronic understaffing, denied rest breaks they are entitled to, broken equipment, unlawful wage deductions and a failing management structure that has dangerously undermined their ability to do their jobs.

They say these are serious safety failures that could put guests and staff at risk. 

Resort Safety Officers deserve the pay, staffing levels and working conditions that allow them to keep everyone safe.

They have joined United Voices of the World union, UVW, to fight for a safe and fair workplace! 

As Butlin’s celebrates 90 years of family holidays, it’s time to invest in the workers who make those holidays safe.
