I call on you to meet the demands of your employees, the striking cleaners, toilet, and playground attendants at the Royal Parks.

It is disgraceful that these workers are being forced to strike for the same sick pay, maternity pay, annual leave, and pension entitlement as their in-house counterparts.

The fact that Royal Parks has seen fit to outsource an almost entirely Black and migrant workforce onto worse terms and conditions than their majority white in-house colleagues is abhorrent.

The different working conditions and the two-tier workforce at Royal Parks constitute a case of racial discrimination, in which black and migrant workers are deemed less worthy than white British workers. It is also a potential breach of the Equality Act.

Your long-serving and loyal employees have risked their lives throughout the pandemic. They deserve to be treated with dignity, respect, and equality.

We have all witnessed how the practice of denying BAME workers full pay sick pay has needlessly cost thousands of lives in this pandemic.

I strongly urge you to do the right and just thing and re-consider the treatment of these workers.
