UVW is proud to be a pioneering union in the UK hospitality sector, representing some of the most exploited, precarious and under-unionised workers in the UK. From luxury restaurants to delivery kitchens and canteens, UVW has led the way in organising hospitality workers and setting new standards for wages, dignity and respect.

At the forefront of this fight are the bar and kitchen workers at the world-famous Harrods department store. Thanks to UVW, these workers have achieved historic victories; from ending the theft of 75% of their tips in 2027, to winning a massive 25% pay rise in 2021. These wins have not only transformed conditions at Harrods, but also set a new standard for the hospitality industry, showing that with unity and determination, hospitality workers can demand, and win, the respect and pay they deserve.

From reclaiming stolen tips to fighting for a real living wage, UVW members are setting a benchmark for hospitality workers everywhere, and we’re not backing down.
