You Deserve Dignity, Respect and Equality

Are you overworked, underpaid, and undervalued? Are you struggling to make ends meet with low pay and no sick pay? Do you want to build collective strength to have a say in your workplace?

Cleaners, security guards, and other facility workers keep London running every day. Yet many workers do no receive the acknowledgement they deserve for the essential work they do.

But when we organise together, we are powerful.

Together, we can win!

Cleaners and facility workers in the public and private sector have taken on major corporations, universities, museums and contractors and won. Through strike and legal action, UVW member have won pay raises wages, full sick pay, recovered stolen wages, received compensation for workplace injuries, and much more.

Ending Institutional Racism

UVW is at the forefront of the fight against outsourcing—a racist, two-tier system that relies heavily on low-paid Black, brown and migrant workers. Outsourced workers are routinely denied the pay, rights and conditions of their directly employed colleagues.

Through strikes, legal action and collective organising, UVW members are fighting back and winning. We have won equal pay and rights for cleaners across workplaces from the London School of Economics to Great Ormond Street Hospital. We demand full equality, insourcing and an end to outsourcing across the public and private sectors.
