Dear Baroness Minouche Shafik, President and Vice-Chancellor of LSE, Indi Seehra, Director of Human Resources of LSE, and Allan Blair, Director of Facilities Management of LSE,

We have heard that LSE's Halls of Residence cleaners have been denied their lawful entitlement to annual leave pay for some years and are taking strike action and legal action to protect this basic right.

We understand that on Friday 2nd June after the cleaners voted to strike that it was confirmed to their union UVW that this practice will now be discontinued moving forward. However, we are shocked to learn that the LSE is still refusing to pay the cleaners the back pay owed to them. In some cases this amounts to thousands of pounds of holiday pay owed over the past several years.

It is astounding that cleaners at a world renowned institution such as LSE are treated with such disdain.

As the leadership of LSE you are ultimately responsible for ensuring all staff and students are treated with dignity and respect. I urge you to sit down with their union, United Voices of the World, and pay the cleaners what they are owed.
