Dear Isabel Tobias, Executive Head of SCHS, and Jolanta Wayling, Managing Director of Zing Clean,

I am writing to you to urge you to listen to your cleaners and meet their modest requests for equality.

Your cleaners, from migrant backgrounds, deserve to be treated with as much respect as anyone else who works at Streatham and Clapham High School.

And the fact that they are outsourced to a private contractor does not absolve SCHS of responsibility towards them or prevent SCHS from improving their terms and conditions as requested, such as the same sick pay and annual leave entitlements as all other workers at the School.

Your insistence on ignoring their union and refusing the cleaners call for equality or even to discuss this with them has left them feeling like second class workers.

We know as an exclusive private school - the money is there to meet their reasonable, but life changing demands.

I urge you to do the right thing; talk to their union, United Voices of the World and give the cleaners what what they need and deserve.
