Dear Trustee Board members at Great Ormond Street Hospital, GOSH I write to you to condemn in the strongest possible terms the unjust treatment of your security guards. The security guards have worked alongside other NHS key workers to keep the hospital safe and open for the children and their families. Despite this, they are the only workers on site at GOSH who are being denied full pay sick pay during the global coronavirus pandemic. The guards are not afforded the same dignity, respect and equality as their NHS counterparts because they are outsourced to a private contractor owned by Conservative Party donor Lord Ashcroft. You are overseeing a two-tier system of terms and conditions within the NHS, where mostly Black or brown migrants are given worse terms and conditions. The NHS, a public service paid for from taxes, should not be used to funnel profits into the pockets of wealthy Conservative Party donors at the expense of pandemic heroes. As decision makers in charge of governance and leadership we call on you to do the right thing; give the guards equal right to NHS terms and conditions and bring them in-house. Yours sincerely,
