Dear Ana,

I am writing to you, and copying in the Board of Sage, in respect of the accounts from the care workers, cleaners and maintenance staff at Sage Nursing Home describing how they feel victimised and discriminated against by you, because of their race or trade union membership.

Examples of the behaviour described include allegedly: ignoring grievances, retaliating against those who raise grievances, ignoring known members of the trade union whilst shouting at others, giving permanent contracts to people based on race, or because they are not members of a trade union, or refusing to give workers their requested shift allocations and changing certain workers’ working areas, also based on race or union membership.

What the workers describe is not only unlawful but also abhorrent given that they have risked their lives to care for the sick and elderly in this pandemic.

I, therefore, ask that you immediately stop this kind of behaviour and start to treat the workers you have a duty of care towards with the dignity and respect they deserve.

Please also support their call to be paid a real living wage and decent sick pay. I hope you agree that they deserve nothing less and should not be punished for asking for it.
