UVW is the first union to organise with workers from the violence against women and girls (VAWG) sector and win for workers and service users.
In March 2025, domestic violence advisors at Solace Women’s Aid stopped redundancies after voting for indefinite strike action. With UVW’s guidance and support, the workers launched a high-profile campaign, gaining widespread support from the local community and MPs, forcing the council and the charity to listen and act. They saved the service and their jobs!
