The Topshop two fight in the courts!

Today is the start of the long awaited 10 day employment tribunal hearing of the Topshop Two!

In 2016 UVW members Susana and Carolina, both mothers from Ecuador, were both cruelly sacked by the cleaning company Britannia from the billionaire Philip Green’s Topshop flagship store.

The official grounds on which they were sacked were clearly fabricated and concocted – the truth being that they were sacked solely because their courage and organising skills posed a threat to grotesque profit margins and high end salaries on which both Britannia and Topshop have based their business models.

They were sacked for being amazing trade unionists that wouldn’t tolerate being treated and paid like second class workers!

At the time they were paid the minimum, poverty wage of £6.75 per hour and were asking for the then London Living Wage of £9.40 per hour.

Over the course of the next 10 days we trust that the tribunal will see the truth and recognise the appalling and unlawful treatment suffered by the Topshop Two.
