UVW wins London Living Wage at Withers Law Firm

We are very happy to announce that following our successful London Living Wage (LLW) campaign at Withers Law Firm in June 2015, all the cleaners have now received their first pay cheque at the current LLW rate of £9.15 per hour. They were previously earning the minimum, poverty wage of £6.50 per hour. This marks an increase of around £380 per month for those that work full time. Part of our agreement with Withers was that the cleaners would be paid retroactively to 1st November 2014 when the current LLW of £9.15 came into effect which means that those working full-time will be given a bonus payment of around £3000. This goes to show the power and continued importance of unions in, among other things, turning London from a low-wage to a Living wage economy!
