Hear international domestic workers stories of struggle

Thursday 9 February, 2023

On Thursday 9 February UVW will be hosting representatives of women-led unions representing domestic workers in India and the Dominican Republic.

We are united around care work, where the epicentre is women workers. We are domestic workers, early childhood workers, elderly and health care workers. All UVW members, particularly migrant women, are invited to Casa UVW to meet these inspirational women and hear their stories.

We will be hearing about the conditions domestic workers face in different countries and about these workers’ fights. We will also be sharing our own stories. This will be a space for UVW members and these workers to learn from one another and inspire each others’ future struggles.

There will be food and drink available.

📍Casa UVW, 140 Cambridge Heath Road, Bethnal Green, London, E1 5QJ

Our guests will be:

Ruth Díaz from the National Federation of Women Workers (FENAMUTRA – Dominican Republic)
Paromita Sen from the Self-Employed Women’s Association (SEWA Bharat – India)
Dr. Louisa Acciari (UCL)

This event will be held in English and Spanish.

We look forward to seeing you!
