Exhibition of worker-led creativity and resistance.
On Tuesday 30 July, come and experience an exhibition of original artwork created by precarious, low-paid, and migrant workers organising with United Voices of the World (UVW) and the Independent Workers of Great Britain (IWGB) at Pelican House, 144 Cambridge Heath Road London E1 5QJ.
This exhibition is the first instalment of a unique three-year collaboration between union members and artist Ella Jones, working alongside researcher and union co-founder Dr Vera Weghmann. Through workshops that blended creative practice with political discussion, workers explored their experiences of exploitation, resistance and solidarity and turned them into striking visual art.
This is the first time these works will be shown publicly. From posters to prints and zines, each piece offers a glimpse into the lives and struggles of workers organising from the ground up.
Limited edition prints will be available, with all proceeds going to UVW and IWGB strike funds.
The exhibition is part of the Tower Hamlets Community Meal, a free, family-friendly event celebrating local organising and collective care.
Supported by Arts Council England, Fenton Arts Trust, British Academy/Leverhulme Small Research Grants, UAL Public Engagement Seed Fund and the Centre for Research on Employment and Work at the University of Greenwich.
