UVW Coronavirus employment law update

The government has just announced the Coronavirus Job Retention Scheme will be extended for a further four months until the end of October 2020. Meaning that anyone who is currently ‘furloughed’ on 80% of their wages could remain furloughed for a further four more months without having to work. However, the government is encouraging employers to instruct their workers to get back to work if their work cannot be done from home and even if they do not work in a Key Sector. Therefore, if your boss has told you to go back to work, please let us know so that we can ensure you are protected. The government has also stated that between August and October 2020, they will be encouraging employers to instruct ‘furloughed’ employees to return to work on a part time basis. We will update you on this as soon as the government makes further announcements.
