How to stand as a candidate 2023

Nominations

This September and October, all UVW members eligible to vote, will elect a General Secretary and a new Executive Committee. Here’s all you need to know on the rules and procedures, how to stand as a candidate and what is expected of you.

Candidate qualifications for standing in elections

To be eligible to stand as a candidate for the Executive Committee, members must have been a member of UVW for a minimum of 12 months and have no more than 2 months of membership fees owing on 31 July 2023.

To be eligible to stand as a candidate for General Secretary, members must have been a member of UVW for a minimum of 3 years and have no more than 2 months of membership fees owing on 31 July 2023.

All nominations will be checked by the elections sub-group to ensure they meet the criteria set out in the Election rules and procedures.

The UVW elections are governed by the following legally binding election rules and procedures – make sure you read them and use the nomination form link if you wish to stand!

Nominations must be received no later than 1200hrs on Monday 7 August 2023.

Submit your nomination here or submit an email to elections@uvwunion.org.uk with the following information:

a) The position that the nominee is running for
b) Full name (first name and surname)
c) Contact details (tel, email, home address and postcode)
d) Language
e) Gender
f) Occupation, Workplace and Sector
g) Length of UVW membership / Join date
h) Names and sectors of the members supporting their nomination (at least 20 for General Secretary nominations and at least 5 for Executive Committee nominations)

Nominations must be received no later than 1200hrs on Monday 7 August 2023.
