UVW closes down two Topshop stores, occupies John Lewis

On Sat 16th April in UVW managed to close two Topshop stores and John Lewis, for the second time in a month demading a real living wage and the reinstatment of the Topshop 2, two cleaners who were suspended for merely being active and effective memebrs of a trade union and protesing their poverty wages.

We have to to ensure our members are paid a living wage and have their human rights respected.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the amazing support we received from those activist and trade unionists from Class War, SOAS Unison branch, IWW, IWGB Couriers and Logistics Branch, Precarious Workers Brigade, Bakers Union Fast Food Rights campaign, UCU London Met, and Black Dissidents.

As Indyrikki notes (see link for full article): "Again, police resources seemed limitless, with at times, nearly as many officers as protesters. Ironic that most of the protesters pay tax, which covers police salaries and overtime, and yet the police were deployed to assist the private security of a huge corporation that aggressively avoids contributing to the UK tax system".
