Security guards at GOSH are fighting for equality

Security guards at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) are denied the same annual leave, sick leave, and career progression as other NHS workers.

Security guards at Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) are denied the same annual leave, sick leave, and career progression as other NHS workers.

“GOSH is made up of departments of families. And in a family circle, even when one member of the family feels he’s been left behind, or he’s not been treated fairly, there’s always going to be a reaction,” says Samuel Awittor, security guard at GOSH.

Samuel, along with dozens of his colleagues, who are mostly Black, Brown and migrant workers, are following in the footsteps of the mighty cleaners who won NHS parity in October 2021.

They are fighting back against a two-tier system and have been taking strike action to have their voices heard! During their struggle against structural racism they have been subjected to a draconian injunction, union-busting and vile racial slurs.

Support the fight for equality at GOSH!
